The challenge
Mando Electric distributes electrical supplies for industrial worksites: conduit, safety equipment, cabling and lighting. Its sales don’t work like retail: clients compare specifications and need a formal quote before buying. The site had to support both worlds without one getting in the way of the other.
What I did
- Full catalog on WooCommerce organized by the industry’s real categories: conduit, safety, cabling, lighting.
- Quote tool for industrial orders: the client builds the order and sends it as a formal quote request, without going through a cart designed for retail.
- Integrated payments with Mercado Pago and GetNet (online payment gateways used in Chile), plus bank transfer, for direct sales.
- Development on a design by an outside studio: visual direction was led by a design studio; I built the site and the integrations and left the platform up and running.
Result
The site went live in March 2023 with both paths covered: direct purchase with online payment, and volume orders that come in as formal quote requests. Three years later it’s still in production with the same build and design I delivered, without having needed a rebuild, and the client runs the catalog on its own: today it has more than 900 products.
A B2B store like this one starts from the same service: WooCommerce online store with Webpay (Transbank’s card gateway, the main one in Chile).
The starting point
An importer of electrical supplies that handled industrial orders by phone and email, with no online catalog. Its clients (mining, construction, fishing) needed to request quotes by volume, not buy unit by unit.
